So you’re going to be acting?
Yeah. I’m doing acting. And there is another movie here in two weeks in New York.
How did you first get into escorting? Did it happen before or after porn?
Rentboy came after. I was doing movies for Kristen Bjorn over ten years ago, and then I did — the first movie here was for Falcon Studios in San Francisco. That was my first movie in the United States. And then I signed a contract for a studio that doesn’t exist anymore called Studio 2000, for twinks. It closed since. So the owner for that studio asked me if I do escort. And I said, what’s that? He said you make money, I’m gonna be famous, there are fans who will watch the movie and they’ll try to get ahold of me, and the only way to do it is through being an escort and you should charge for that. I travel, I’m overseas for fun. I sleep a lot. I sleep over ten hours a day. I have breakfast, lunch, dinner. I have a regular life so I only do escorting when the time works for me. If you say 8PM and I’m free, I’ll do that. So I can do two a day, three sometimes, sometimes one, sometimes when I’m greedy I do five, six, seven. It depends but I make money from it.
Are you putting money away or are you spending it as it comes in?
I just got a three bedroom apartment right across the street here and I’m just remodeling it now. I don’t have a drug addiction. I’m not drug addicted as you can see. I’m not into Gucci or Versace. They are my clients but I – I fuck them but I don’t buy their products. You know who’s call I just missed now? I’m gonna show you.

It’s gonna be too expensive for me to buy medicine, to take care of myself. I’m very sloppy. I barely shave my beard. I take showers, but I barely shave. I would never be able to remember to take the pills every day. No offense to the other people, all my best friends are positive. I love them all. People that I know for many years, they’re all positive. And we’re still together. We’re still friends. I can’t afford it mentally. I can’t buy pills. I can’t remember to buy pills. So I have to keep myself negative.
It’s good to hear you say that. Who is your best friend in porn?
My best friend in porn is the person who stays behind the camera. It’s not an actor, it’s not an actress. It’s still mr. Pam. She’s the one knew me from the beginning in the United States, and we’re still together. We keep in touch all these years. For ten years we keep in touch. I have many friends but she’s the one who we are in touch still and the one who I want to be in touch with for the next hundred years. I think she’s the best. I have other friends too.
What do you think makes mr. Pam such a good friend?

I'm not the best dancer they have, but probably I'm the one who interacts with the audience the most. Everyone who comes to watch me, they know they will get more than what they expected.
As a world traveler, what do you see as some major cultural differences to approaches to porn and/or gay sex, as opposed to the US?
I've done porn movies in many countries, but still USA is the place to be if you are a porn star. Other countries, they like to hire me as a "post-production" after they watch the movies. Some countries they have no access to porn, but they find a way to get ahold of me.
What inspired you to do porn?
Everyone wants to fuck a porn star. I love sex, and I guess that's the best job I have in mind. I used to be a dental surgeon (no secret about it), but quit to do fashion, then jumped to porn.
What was the first porn film that you ever saw, and what effect, if any, did it have on you, and in what way?
Gee, first porn I ever saw; it was my brother who put on VHS –I was like eleven years old– called something like: Bally Haly Bunny, straight porn. Then later, I saw those old Catalina/Falcon super-skinny models with mustaches. Don't remember the name, but they were hot. I thought, 'I want to be like them one day, or at least meet them.' And I did meet some of them and fuck some of them, too.
How do you prepare yourself (physically, mentally, emotionally, etc.) to perform on film?
I just relax, get comfortable and get into the set thinking to make my best scene ever. The good attitude of the partner and the crew helps a lot. I've been lucky to always perform well, If I recall I might've had one or two problems out of almost 300 scenes I've done. All the others, I had an awesome time.
Do you have a favorite film in which you've starred?
Prison Shower by Men.com is definitely the most popular among the entire porn business. I also like Dreams of Rafael by Black Scorpions and Fuck me Hard by Lucas Entertainment (among many others).
With whom would you like to work in your next film, and what would you do?
Hard to choose only one, but I'd fuck all the porn stars I fucked before and whoever I didn't do a scene with yet, they are more than welcome to join me.
Who in the porn industry do you admire?
Mr. Pam (Naked Sword director), Edward James (Men.com director), Michael Lucas (Lucas Entertainment director) and all the other amazing directors I've worked with, and they know we had a fun time together.
What is/was it like to run your own porn studio, Black Scorpion Studios?
It was awesome! I had a dream together with a friend (Chris), we made it happen and we stuck together as long as we could manage. For several reasons I had to stop, but I considered my mission accomplished. We produced the highest quality videos I have ever seen so far.
What are your sexual limits?
I guess just the average like everyone. I don't like pain or blood in me, but I've caused a lot of pain and blood to others, so it's a partial limit. Oh yes, and I don't do barebacking sex, even though my best friends (actually everyone around me) likes raw sex.
What do you do in films that you don't do privately?
Nothing. Everything that you see in the movies, I can do in privacy with you; just ask me.

I sat down with Rafael to chat about how he got into the gay adult industry, his favorite porn productions, his directing, his work with Lucas Entertainment and his future plans in the industry.
Papi Chulo: How long have you been in the adult industry?
Rafael Alencar: Six years.
PC: How did you get into the adult industry?
RA: After refusing many times, I decided to accept Kristen Bjorn's invitation.
PC: How did you come up with your porn name?
RA: It's my real name.
PC: Have you always been interested in doing porn?
RA: Not really, I just like sex... a lot.
PC: What was your first day on a porn set like?
RA: I liked. It was a hot hook up with people watching me with cameras. It was ParaShooter for Kristen Bjorn.
PC: You have starred for some of the biggest companies in the industry (i.e. Studio 2000 , Hot House Entertainment, Raging Stallion Studios, Lucas Entertainment). Is there a particular company you enjoy working for the most?
RA: Each one has their good and bad aspects. I like the good quality of Hot House, but I don't like the crew talking while the model suffers, waiting with a headache and wasting time with a hard on. I like the speed and natural ways that Raging Stallion and Lucas Entertainment do their movies.
PC: Which production companies have you been an exclusive with in the past?
RA: I was an exclusive for Studio 2000. I refused Falcon many years ago and all the others. It's not worth it for the model at all.
PC: Who has been your favorite scene-mate to work with?
RA: I always like the last partners I worked in the movies. I like all them.
PC: What do you enjoy most about starring in porn scenes?
RA: Behind-the-scenes on the DVDs and when I fuck the models for real behind-the-scenes that doesn't come out on the DVDs.
PC: What kind of scenes do you enjoy being in the most?
RA: Being aggressive with my partner. That's what's coming next in the following movies.
PC: Some of my favorite films you have starred in are Obsession of D.O., GRUNTS and Pounding the Pavement. Do you have any memorable experiences working on those features?
RA: Obsession. I directed it and loved it. GRUNTS was just a regular scene. And there were too many people in it. Pounding the Pavement I liked the most 'cause I was surrounded by friends. And it was a New York production.
PC: Who have you been working with recently?
RA: Lately I have been working with only Lucas Entertainment. A sort of non-exclusive contract.
PC: Your scene in Lucas Entertainment's Wall Street is highly erotic. What was it like to shoot that scene with Ben Andrews in a subway train?
RA: That scene took forever to be done. I was excited to play on public. I am sure it's gonna get nominated.
PC: Do you find it easier to play a character and get into the motivation of a scene with a storyline? Or do you enjoy when a scene is just wall-to-wall sex?
RA: I like both ways. As long as I end up with my cock inside the model's hole.
PC: You have been predominately a top in films. Have you ever thought of bottoming on-camera?

PC: You have dabbled in directing. What was it like to hold your directorial debut in your hands for the first time?
RA: I've directed five movies. I loved it. I gave up, because of the pressure on it. That's because I understand when Michael Lucas becomes a bitch on the set. It's stressful work. But, I also like him because he lets me free to do what I want, and he knows in the end the scene will be even better than he expect.
PC: Will you be directing more in the future?
RA: God damn no! But as I said, Michael Lucas leaves me free to "direct" my own scene. So, I am happy with that.

RA: Uh... I don't know. I'm probably gonna end up editing or shooting porn videos behind-the-scenes. Otherwise, I will just be going back to my Dentist career that I put on hold to become a porn star.
PC: Where do you see yourself in five years?
RA: In New York, going to the movie theater and fucking hot bottoms in the city. But, still traveling around the world.

RA: Since I've lived in New York, the past five years, I have never had a Big Mac or a Whopper. I am totally out of the loop about these junky food.

RA: Grey and dark (army) green.
